Florence the capital of the pret-a-porter collections
"Pitti bimbo" fashion from school to trends
International brand names and avant-garde products will be presented.

"Pitti Immagine Bimbo" is an exhibition of an extremely dynamic nature. It brings together the brand names of large international groups, but also avant-garde products from small niche companies, it opens its doors to different kinds of goods (furnishing accessories and objects), it promotes communication with other sectors such as that of education. In every direction it maintains a strongly innovative approach, working as much on the contents as on the research into style, image and design.

But above all it is a fair with ever-increasing numbers and with an increasingly central role as an international fair: the number of brands presented grows, and has shown for the last two seasons a new record each time; the number of foreign exhibitors grows; the data relating to the buyers grows, both Italians and foreigners, the latter having shown at last July’s exhibition a leap ahead of 33.6%. Data which confirm Pitti Immagine Bimbo as a leading fair in the global panorama.

This season: the figures of this edition, at the end of 2000, were as follows: 254 trade names out of 328 brand names, 121 of which were foreign (36.9% of the total), coming from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.

And 40 new names at the end of 2000 with respect to the past season. Among them: Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Catimini Shoes, Chervignon Kids, Christian Lacroix, Fiorucci, Haki Paki, Husley Kids, Les Copains, Liu-Jo Girl, Lotto, Maharishi, Mer Du Nord, Murphy & Nye Junior, Naf Naf Enfant, Roberto Cavalli Angels.

The sections: Pitti Immagine Bimbo is structured in sections that mirror a constantly evolving world: clothing and accessories, but also different goods such as furnishing accessories, which interpret and anticipate the new fashion requirements of children and teenagers, a research that goes beyond the boundaries of fashion to converse with other sectors.

Pitti Bimbo: the most prestigious designer names in fashion for the very young. The collections of the top designers, the leading brands on the market, the best of style for under 18s at world level.

Sport Generation: the world of jeans and active-wear. A sector brimming with energy with a winning image. The most important names, the proposals that set the trends in a section with strong impact.

New View: a sophisticated style, anything but commonplace. Clothes and accessories in original and surprising collections, rich in humour and poetry, creativity and spirit characterised by a decidedly refined kind of fashion, for connoisseurs.

Kids’ Design: the section where attention expands to include everything that makes up the world of children, from objects to items of furnishing. From technology to design, from education to play: a selection of the best of international production dedicated to childhood.

The fashion parades: a completely new outfit for the fashion parades, an appointment followed with great interest by all those involved in this sector. A new location the "Pavilion delle Ghiaia", an independent structure dedicated entirely to the event. Also new is the organisation of individual shows, to highlight the creative contents of the individual collections. An original and engaging way to put fashion on show, an instrument of documentation which is increasingly important.

Kid Size: The Leopolda Station opens its doors to Kid Size: The Material World of Children, an exhibition conceived and organised by the Vitra Design Museum of Weil am Rhein, one of the most important research and documentation structures on design in the world. Kid Size explores the relationships between children and adults in the different societies, and how these relationships are revealed in the daily environment. Furnishings and manufactured articles seen from this point of view become powerful vehicles of significance, which can be read in very interesting ways. An exhibition-event of international significance for which Pitti image is the exclusive host in Italy.
