Advice for grownups and children

How to organize a birthday party
Few problems, lots of fun
Sobriety, simplicity and sedateness are the ingredients for success.

For children their birthday is always a special day, although they don’t realize that growing up is a desire for kids, but a bit of a sorrow for adults. How should a child’s birthday party be organized? We believe that above all it is a matter of sobriety, simplicity and sedateness. So don’t worry about working for weeks before the event in order to organize a successful party. A little imagination is enough. Add a bit of good will and you will see that everything will go right and your child will be happy.
First of all the location: if you have enough room, that’s good, but make sure your flat is not going to be overcrowded, or the kids will have no fun. If it’s too small you can rent a room at the local church’s children centre for an afternoon or, if you can afford it, a restaurant lounge.
How nice the party will be depends on the number of guests; the less room you have at your disposal, the fewer the children (and accompanying parents). Once you have decided the number, with all the sacrifices this may entail, the invitations should be sent. The best thing here is mums phoning to each other, possibly well in advance. If you wish, you can also send a hand-written note with a drawing or one made with a computer graphics programme.
If you can afford it, you can entrust the party’s organization to an entertainer. For those who want to take care of those themselves, a little imagination will be enough. The outcome will be equally satisfactory. It is sufficient to involve the children with a few puzzles and games and they will do the rest by themselves.
If you have precious objects or carpets in your flat, remove them to avoid staining. Food and drink are the highlights of a party. Cold drinks (no alcohol!) and cakes (but not salty ones) will be sufficient. The successful outcome of this appointment depends greatly on the common interests shared by the children. You can decorate your house with paper chains and paper figures coloured by the mum or bought in a shop.
Finally, the candles: (pink for females, pale blue for males), set on a cake that will be chosen so as to please everybody’s tastes. And now, have fun!
