Winter can be

Pinocchio
in the open air
Relive
the wonderful story of the famous puppet in Collodi
|

|
|
Even winter can be the
season to visit an open-air theme park: in Collodi the "Park of
Pinocchio" is in fact open all
year round and together with "Toyland" it constitutes a true
museum created to re-tell the adventures of the famous puppet to visitors
of all ages and especially to children. Always open, the
park is built on an area of 20,000 metres, with a rail link and situated
near to Pisa airport; the park of Collodi is near the Chiesina |
Uzzanese
exit of the Florence motorway.
The structure invites us to revisit the universally
symbolical figures of the
story of Collodi and to re-live the episodes with all the
fun and mysterious charm which have made Pinocchio one of
the favourite characters of children all over the world. In
the park of Pinocchio you can rediscover the story through
"Pinocchio |
and
the Fairy" and the "Square of Mosaics", works
of art which find a place in this imposing green setting.
After having left these two areas one relives the episodes
of the story one by one, meeting the policeman, the speaking
cricket, and the tree of gold in a succession of pleasant
surprises for the visitor. Another interesting area to visit
is the "Laboratory of words and characters" where
childrens activities are carried out. The overall feeling
is that of visiting a living story. Call 0572-429342 for

The
puppet representative
of the Meyer hospital
To entrust the image
of a hospital, in particular a childrens hospital,
to Pinocchio. That was the choice made by the Meyer
pediatric hospital of Florence, who have chosen the
puppet created in the nineteenth century by Carlo
Lorenzini, better known as Collodi. They made an
agreement with the Collodi foundation so that the
character and his adventures could become part of the
furnishings of the "Little Hospital", just
as Great Ormond Street Hospital in London chose Peter
Pan or the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm chose
Pippy Longstocking. A highly positive undertaking that
bears witness to the commitment to looking after those
who suffer.

Villa
Garzoni
goes to Giochi Preziosi
The historic garden
and the Villa Garzoni in Collodi have been bought by
Giochi Preziosi: the objective is to restore the two
structures to their former splendour and to make them
into an attraction for children from all over the
world. The announcement was made by Enrico Preziosi,
the chairman of the dynamic group. Enrico Preziosi
underlined that "the acquisition and the
commitment of the group represent an decisive element
in carrying out the project of the multi-centre theme
park of Collodi - Pinocchio".

A
"Preziosi" Idea
The football fan
His name is
Tifosotto Hurray!: hes a kind of teddy bear who
comes dressed in your choice of one of the football
strips of the football teams of the Italian first
division championship. It is not
however a static toy: the gadget stands on a terrace
of the football stadium on which there two buttons, by
pressing one Tifosotto sings football songs, and when
you press the second one he beats those unmistakable
football rhythms on his drum ( ta-ta-tatata-
tatatata-tata!). This toy however, unlike many
football fans, is polite and does not insult the
referee. The product is made by Preziosi of Enrico
Prexiosi, the president of
Como.
